Default Bringing my car to US From Spain

Hello to all

I got an offer to work in Miami, so I am thinking to bring a Subaru 2011 STI to the US, I sold my S because I am going to be a father, the reason is that I bought it by then end of 2011 and that market of used car in Spain is almost broken, selling means that I will lose almost 30-40% of its value for 6 months of use

Does anyone knows which procedure should follow in order to get US plates? I searched the NHTSA web page but did not found any response.

As fas as I know I have to fill a HS-7 Declaration form.

I know that a car that complies with the US rule has certification label on the driver`s side
any picture of your car with help to compare with the certification label of my Scooby, maybe they have an "universal label"

According to the NHTSA: One basis for determining a motor vehicle eligible for importation is that it
1) is substantially similar to a motor vehicle of the same model year that was manufactured for sale in the United States Mine it is
2) and certified by its manufacturer as complying with all applicable FMVSS ???

One more thing, my car is slightly moded, downpipe and Header, but still complies with European Emissions standard which are tougher than US.

Thanks for your help

federal motor vehicle safety standards =FMVSS.. contact the Florida Dept of Motor Vehicles. you may also get some information from someone local in the US Military stations in your area now. there might be some smog controls required to import to the US but since military persons move around world wide that might be a good place to start

Good advice a ball.you should also get in touch with an international car shipping company.they will go over the process with you as to Customs and smog requirements etc. and hopefully provide you some information to help you determine if it is worthwhile for you to ship the car.here's a link to an international car transport: http://www.dasglobalservices.com/
