I've posted in the Computers Forum, but I thought I would ask the locals as well, since that forum doesn't get very much traffic.

update the BIOS?

Maybe downgrade one update on your video and sound drivers...

I've had a problem like this on my laptop with the newest video drivers where the video played fine, but then it freezes after 2-3 seconds...A update of the BIOS and a one downgrade update on the drivers and everything worked fine. When next new drivers came out I installed them and everything worked fine...

 

It almost seemed at first like the sound card was dying, but with the video playback shot on all fronts and the fact that the drivers are up to date and the computer saying that the card is working fine, I have to wonder how bad this problem is.

The sound card drivers are about 6 months old, Creative hasn't updated the drivers in a while.

 

Yeah I heard Creative isn't doing a great job with drivers lately... my last card from them was the Gamer-X 5.1... I pretty sure theres 3rd party progammers out there that make unoffical drivers. I seen them for the ATI Laptop 3d cards because unlike nvidia they don't support the laptop crowd that great.

I did download the latest BIOS for my mobo, but it's a Bin file and I can't run it. I'm not as saavy as I used to be, and this has me confused. Asus' website isn't very helpful, and I'd like to try this out next. Can you walk me through this part?
