Default Can we lose some of the sticky threads?

if no, then say so

If yes, which ones can go?

OH and BTW, the heresnowhy whore thread has got to go soon too...it is breaking forum rules by thousands of posts. Start a new one and call it part 2 ASAP because the OG one has to go.

Unsticky all but the S2000 Owners list & Sightings thread. The calendar link is dead.

Just lock the Heresnowhy thread.

if no one wants to get rid of them, i say just put them all in one folder that is "pinned" at the top, so that way it cleans up the fls2k page. and the heresnowhy thread is good, but i do believe all good things must come to an end, and its time for a pt2.

I agree with the stickies, Way to busy up there.

My question... Why the hate on the heresnowhy thread? is it hurting something?

The length of the Heresnowhy thread is the problem. I personally dont care about the thread in general...its fine as a topic and a good container for daily flow of consciousness type stuff...but the upper management has said in the past they do not want threads longer than IIRC: 2000 posts because it chunks up the database and the servers when it has to parse such a big request.

I will leave it up to you guys (the people that frequent the place) as to what to do regarding it. I am just saying that the upper brass may swoop down one day and squash it completely. Starting a Part 2 will ensure the party does not end.

If I can toss in my $.02 here. I remember when I was a frequent poster on rennlist, they had a subsection appropriately named "the abyss" where all long and sensitive (objectionable) threads ended up. There was not direct link to it at all you had to have the URL to get to it. It was the place where all the awesome ended up. Maybe there is a way that could save on some bandwidth with an option like that.

i don't know what functionality they can produce or are willing to throw at our FL section.

I am pretty much sure they wont give us an "abyss" option...and I dont want to necessarily lead the brass by the nose to this discussion for fear of summary decisions being made without our input.

Putting long threads into a another folder and letting people call it up there will not solve the issue of it bogging down the server and database...it will only make it take longer to load as it follows the string through the matrix's rabbit hole...Neo....LOL

I suggest unstickying most of the threads and keeping them active by simple input. Threads like the fitness thread and looking for work threads should be active.....active enough to keep them close to the top or at least on the first page. Some of the stickies are just dead in the water or easily found if searched for. IMHO.

The ones that are important will stay at the top through actual replies and activity, the rest.......meh...they have been there forever and

I will look for more input by you all and especially from the other CO's. I just saw an opportunity to do some spring cleaning around here

this is actually a fantastic idea...I dont know if it can be implemented in our local forum or if they can filter those status updates to be only from people registered to our FL forum (what the old roster represented...basically the people we had assigned the FL badge to), but i will surely ask....
