Considering the Comptech SC. Who would do a quality install and tune?
I have had the bug to buy a new more punchy toy and sell the s2000, but have realized that it would cost me a fortune to buy something I would like as much as the s2k. The return on the car would be lame if I sold the car with the new model years out and the growing competition in the market.
That being said;
I'm thinking about taking the plunge and doing the Comptech SC and AC. Is there anyone here in Orlando who would do a quality install that could tune the car also?
I know others have DIY'ed this project, but it is beyond my comfort zone if I decide to do it.
Ive forgotten who all has the Comtech SC here in FL. For those who have it, what headaches have you had, and was it worth it?
Go to Velocity Resources 407-464-4680 ask for Jason and tell him I sent you. They've done all the work on my car (except a SC) and I would trust them with anything. In fact, they are installing my new gears this Thursday if you want to meet me over there. Call me 321-299-2250.
I know that some dealers will install it. Try calling around. I have the Comptech S/C. I bought the car from someone in MN with it on it. I have had it on my car for 10,000 miles and have not had a problem one with it. Love it and I am installing the A/C in a couple of days. Good luck you will love it.
I installed mine about 6 months ago, got 6,000 miles on it. The install was more time consuming than anything, and only problem to date was the FPR hose that started leaking so I re-routed it and it's been fine since. It's a totally different car with the SC

I would love to drop by to see the gears, but I have to teach that day. Do you know if they have a dyno? I would be spooked not having it tuned. Folks have been having problems with detonation and lean conditions in some cases with the SC and Id like to avoid that at all cost. My 2001 is still at about 14k miles and under warranty, so Im debating if I want to ace the warranty. Once the SC is on, Im sure no dealership will want to service the car under warranty. THeyd probably blame faulty door locks on the SC!
Fastrack , are you in orlando? Last time I saw you at a meet, it was a rainy day so I didnt ask for a ride in your car. Would you be willing to meet me in the middle for a quick spin someday?
Brad's car is one fast puppy. I got to ride and drive it shortly after the install last summer. It is a totally different car with incredible power. Seemless though. It feels like it should be there. Amazing about sums it up IMO.
Winn, I didn't do the install yet as I'm waiting for the correct measurements from Rick. No they don't have a dyno but I'll check to see who they recommend.
If you call some dealers you may find one that will install it. The ones that install them say that it will not void your warranty. If they do it. I just put on an undrive pulley with the aftercooler. Made a big difference. I maxed out at about 5 psi before now I get 6 even with the aftercooler.
I can't wait for the rearend with the 4.57s to come in.
