Corner Clearing Session - FCS2K and all others
This thread will be for planning and organizing a corner clearing session/weekend here in Daytona Beach. It grew out of interest expressed in the FCS2K meet thread here https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=99130
I have volunteered my house, garage, tools, and ovens for a home-style corner clearing session. What needs to be set up are:
People who are interested in performing this mod,
People who are interested in advising/assisting,
Date(s) that people are available,
Materials needed
I will be available on Sundays thru the end of February. How does February 2nd or 9th sound?
Brad here in Daytona (Fastracks2000) has volunteered his time and experience, as has Nick (Nzaizar).
Warren (Caputo), Layton, and CHR-2004 have expressed interest in doing this mod.
My understanding is that the mod can be done several ways: naked (no diffuser), smoked, or clear.
Please post your preferred date, as well as your preference for naked, clear, or smoked. Depending on interest we may get a better price if we order together from Rick's. At least we may be able to combine shipping. Or you can buy the diffusers yourself.
Everyone (with an S2000) is invited, but of course due to practical limitations I will have to limit this initial session to 6 cars. So sign up now.
BTW - link to instructions for clearing the corners, courtesy of Rick's, is here: http://www.ricks2k.com/info/instructions/diffuser.pdf

I'd definitely be interested in doing this on the 9th. I'm interested in going "naked" for my lights. Any compensations for this help? I could bring some food or brews if you'd like.
Also, will you be getting all the bulbs and sealant and we pay you when we get there? Or, would should we get those before hand?
Thanks,
--John

Looks like we're on for the 9th. So far we have:
Me - naked
Warren - naked
Layton - naked
John - naked
I'd like to start around 10, if that works for you. Earlier would be fine with me also, but I know some of you have a 1 or 2 hour drive. I'm open to suggestions. Of course you can show up later in the day, I plan to be doing car stuff all day, but for practicality I would like to have everybody here and started by noon.
I am leaning towards naked also. I will provide Black RTV, an Orange Sharpie, but not bulbs. For those of you wanting to replace the bulbs, please bring them with you. The link to Rick's instructions at the top of this thread has the bulb numbers.
John, no compensation necessary, thanks though. I may have some beers in the fridge, we can just get pizza(s) or something.

Naked is without a diffuser for the corner bulb. The bulb will be plainly visible, and should therefore be orange to be technically legal. I will be looking at the cars next weekend at Caddyshack to make a final decision, but I think naked it will be.
Let me know if you will be joining us.

I would love to clear my corners but how do I convince my dad its a good idea? I do admit its a pretty complicated procedure, since when do you put headlights in an oven? but he thinks that something will happen and he has a right to be concerned because he did pay for half of the car and he says "what? Is the car not good enough for you?". The only thing that I can think of to get him to let me do this project is to let him come and even then I think it will be very tough to convince him to let me do it. What would you guys do, can you come up with anything that would change his mind? Thanks.
