Embarassing Moments
Today was one of those days. I went to the Honda dealer about my first to second gear crunch. They want to verify the problem. I said you can drive, but I ride. The service manager pulls out of the lot and proceeds with a 9k shift. Does the transmission screw up? Of cource not. We pull up to a light and what pulls up next to us? Another Yellow S2. Needless to say the light changes and we all know we are going to drop the hammer. First, we were in third gear, not first, secondly I relized the air conditioning was on, and last but not least, there is someone running around bragging about how bad he destroyed MY car. Isn't there some kind of law against this?

Deb, Murphy is alive & well. The car knew it was being tested & went into it's best behavior mode, no grind. I did complain about you having the same problem & that it only does it when they're not around.

Which dealer did you take the S to? With so much discussion about high rev launches and the damage it can do, I'm surprised that the dealers mechanic did it. Did they schedule the TSB fix or just send you on your way?
I've just started to notice the 1st-2nd grind over the weekend. Seems to happen regularly at about 3800-4000 rpm, lower revs and it's fine.

Daytona, I need to set the record straight. The guy from Honda wasn't launching the heck out of my car, he taught me a thing or two about it. Also, I joke about him jumping on it, but my problem occurs at 8k plus RPM, to verify you've got to get there. No, they didn't change fluids or actually do anything, but I was told the problem is documented and no doubt any related future tranny problem is covered under warrenty. Remember, I was in the car for the test drive (with no hassles), anything done was by my direction.

Doug says yours behaves when it's there also. Four days worth?

Yeah, one of the times I did leave it there for 4-5 days. It drove fine while they had it. I always notice a big improvement after they drain and replace the transmission fluid. In the last couple of months, I have not had any problems with grinding, just oil consumption!
I like to talk with Doug because he seems to know about the S2K and I feel like he is trying to help. However, some of the other technicians leave alot to be desired as far as service goes. Hopefully, yours will be behaving and not throwing temper tantrums
