Air and water d onot compress the same AT all. I have seen quite a few rods shot through oil pans from this same scenario. good luck and hope all works out.

Word of advice to everyone else reading this thread.....
DO NOT TRY TO START YOUR CAR IF IT STALLS OUT FROM A HARD RAIN OR DRIVING THROUGH A PUDDLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If your car stalls put the flashers on and be safe, get the car out of the road. If you have tools and time pull the plugs and dry out the air filter. Crank the car a few times with the plugs removed to blow out the water. Replace the plugs and air filter then, check the oil to see if water made it’s way into the crank case. If water is in the oil change the oil before restarting the car.
If you can not do this have the car towed to someone that can.
Starting a car after a water stall can be a $5,000 mistake

You are correct Puddy.. Trying to turn over a hydro locked motor will cause even more problems.

AND do not drive into water more than an inch deep. This is especially for those of us with an aftermarket intake. I have an AEM that goes LOW into the bumper, I dread driving in the rain and will go 30 miles out of my way to stay out of puddles. I does not take much and as mentioned before idle is enough to destoy an engine. Water in the cylinder might as well be concrete, it does not compress and that is why it is catastophic when it make it into the cylenders , it has noplace to go, neither do the pistons.
