I recently visited my brother in law in Ocala, I usually take 40 through the forest, but because I've got the S2K now, i wanted to explore some fun back roads. I discovered a great stretch (for Florida) on CR42 between 441 and 44 near Deland. It has a couple of nice banked turns and hills through the countryside. Lotsa twisties, and not much traffic. Really pretty, especiallly last weekend.
taken somewhere outside of Clermont last year at the FL Supermeet. Hate that we're gonna miss that meet this year since we're up in North Alabama this month.
Boyette Rd. kind of between Brandon Valrico and Riverview. I have'nt been out there in years but it was the first place I ever went over 100MPH and I lost it in a turn (RWD Camaro) damn near hitting a Stop sign (I got out and was only 2" from it at most). I'll be moving right down the street from there at the end of April or May if anyone wants to take a tour (I need my S fix!). It might be all developed by now but there were some bad@$$ twisties out there and never any police.
Well for the Peninsula folks, any road with elevation and twisties is a rare gem. Cleremont actually has plenty of potential, so there should be a few fun roads this weekend at the supermeet.
Of course, A1A between Palm Coast, Flagler beach and St. Augustine is a pretty coastal road, but not many turns.
Willie G - next time you run 42 - take 450 where it T's with 42 and go to Umatilla. 450 is even more fun than 42, IMO. From Umatilla City Hall (off 19) find Rose St, which becomes 44A. If you're ready for a real thrill, look for Thrill Hill Rd, right off 44A. It's aptly named, and was "discovered" by Fastrack.
Also, there's a nice eatery called the Mason Jar right off 19 a little further down in Dona Vista.
btw - since you're in NSB, go south on US1 to Oak Hill and take Maytown to 415, then on Enterprise/Osteen along the lake to I-4. Very nice way to go.
We're heading out to the supermeet this weekend, when were you planning on taking off? We were thinking first thing Sat. morn. It'd be fun to go over together, yes?
