Good Beaches
hey i have some friends and family visiting through the month of April. i just moved down here and have only been to 2 beaches, st.pete beach and Clearwater. i was hoping you guys could give me some good beaches to take my friends to. preferably some beaches with bars on them and not too far of a drive from USF.

when it comes to beach quality ... Clearwater and St. Pete beaches are hard to beat IMO. There is/was a hotel there just north of the hwy60 roundabout that had a bar on the beach ... just north of the Clearwater Pier. It was a Holiday Inn, Double Tree, ect ... not sure what it is now.
the only beach that has a bar 'on it' that i know: Daytona/The Ocean Deck ... and i think there is a place on Ft. Walton Beach but it's more of a restaurant (but that's 4 or 5 hours away from USF).
usually i stay at a hotel on the beach ... and keep the bar in the room.
hope that helps ...

LIDO in sarasota is a good beach.
other than that, basically just head down to Clearwater beach and head north or south. there is plenty of bars, resturaunts, hotels and everything else for miles in either direction.

Both have good food and a bar right on the beach. Both are hard to get into at peak times.

the Treasure island/Indian rocks area has lots of hotels with tiki bars and/or restaurants on the beach. Last week I was at both St. Pete and Clearwater beach with IMO, Clearwater being the better of the two.
