GROUP DRIVE Information-SuperMeet
2/2/2009 Update Please read Rally Spot Changed! Due to the size of the Group we will be meeting at the SUPERMEET Site to begin the group drive.
Greetings!!!!
The drive route is 96% all 2 lane, country bumpkin driving. Some nice twistees, a switchback or two, Florida hills and, beautiful scenery. The best views will be in your rear view mirrors ...........
Our starting point will be at the SUPERMEET SITE located at the Plant City Stadium Complex, Randy L. Larson Softball Four-Plex, 1700 South Park Road (enter off Albertson Drive) This is a change for what was previously posted. We will not be meeting at the Comfort Inn, logistically it will not work, we have to many cars for the lot.
Directions to the Supermeet site:
Off I-4 take Exit #22 (Park Road) and go south approx. 2.4 miles to Albertsons Drive and turn RIGHT on Albertsons drive, go approx. 1/4 mile and turn left into the Supermeet location. There is a traffic light at the intersection of Park Road and Albertson drive and there will be an S2K Supermeet sign on the corner to help you identify the turn.
For those with GPS here are the Coordinates: Lat: N 27o 59' 50.89" Long: W 82o 6' 28.38"
The Plant City Stadium complex includes the Stadium and a four-plex of practice fields, if you go to the stadium you will be in the wrong location. Our venue is located behind the practice fields.
There will be a MANDATORY Ssfety meeting at 8:30 AM to be attended by everyone going on the Group Drive. Each of you will be given a detailed copy of the Route that morning. Please stop asking for "preview" copies. The answer is NO!!!!!
We will be needing to be on the road by 9:00 AM sharp!! Our cars will need to be all fuel'd up, tire pressures checked and any other standard maintenance that you will want done. We will have you back to the Supermeet site by Noon (or sooner). That means you will need full tanks as we start. There will be a single stop at an intersection with 2 different gas stations (Citgo & Shell) with clean stores with clean restrooms somewhere around the halfway point. This stop needs to be about 10 minutes, perhaps 15 tops. Another reason to already have your tanks topped off before the Group Drive. This stop needs to be for the refreshment and relief purposes.....not fuel.
Due to the number of participants (about 71 cars), we will be spliting up into some smaller groups. No worries, there will be no disappointments. A seasoned driver will be in the front with full knowledge of the specified route. Radios would be nice to bring in you have them. We all plan to take the same route but, will be traveling in opposite directions. This way, somewhere in the middle, we will pass each group going the opposite direction. Should be pretty cool !!!!!
As a personal note: Try to follow someone with a particular type of exhaust that you may have wanted to hear. Fujitsubo, HKS, Invidia, etc..... all sound incredible from behind the cars instead of being in them. Cold Air intakes and Test Pipes add to the melody of these systems and may influence your future purchasing decisions. Too, at the rest area, switch up the order that you took the 1st half so as to change up the scenery both in front of you and the rear.
And for the record....This is not a track event. That is the following day (Sunday) up in Gainesville. We will follow rule number one..... SAFETY FIRST !!!!! This is just going to be a fun drive with group safety as the priority. This will also provide you folks with roads that you may have not known anything about. I take these roads every month as a stress relief and pure VTEC satisfaction on a single car prospective. It is for your trivial pursuit of S2K ecstacy for future pleasure. Please keep your personal copy of the Itinerary.
I will post up later next week after a dry run with all of the Group Leaders an approximate time and distance of the actual "Lap". But for now, count on it being about 2.5 hours. I have all of the increments, but way too many stops to jot down the particulars to have a complete description for you as yet.

scott post up a roll call based on the prelim list i e-mailed you so that those who signed up know they are accounted forI can send the most up to date list today.
If you could keep that roll call up to date that would really help the attendees and you guys in planning the drive.
we have like 48 cars now BTW ZOINKS!!!!!
I dont think that many will actually make it but we need to make arrangements in case they do
