Default HELP!

So after taking the car to about 8,000rpm 2 times last night I started to hear a somewhat loud ticking high pitch noise.

Its noticable with the hood down and the car at idle, so, a little loud.

Its got me really worried and I don't want to drive it till I can figure it out.

There also seems to be a droning noise comming from the intake, not very loud and possible something normal that I just never noticed before.

HELP!!!!

Let me know if you need more info.

Check your oil level. It's hard to guess with out hearing the noise first hand, but it sounds like lifter tap. Are you running 93 octaine in the car? If not than it might be detination. The droning from the intake is somewhat normal. Depending on how loud it is.

Oil level is at about half between full and empty.

Only run 93, but possibly gas station screwed up tanks(I have a few friends that work at them and it seems to happen a lot. also at many BPs the mid grade is just regular, they only have 2 tanks)

Droning isn't loud at all and probably normal.

Its almost like a ratle sound.

The car has 16,000 miles on it and just got the oil changed about 150 miles ago, I had it done at a Honda dealer, but now that makes we wonder what they might have done.

It also had the 15,000 mile service done at around 13,500 miles.

and its a 2001.

Hmmm...well if it's more of a rattling sound then I am lost. Oil level is sounds good...do a visual check with the motor running and se if you can't track down where the noise is coming from. Might be as simple as one of the latches for the intake box top. If it sounds like it's coming from the eninge itself...I'd take it into the dealer and tell them that it started making noise shortly after the oil change. They might be inclined to look into free of charge (not sure if you have a warrenty or not)

its coming form the engine, and I dont see anything loose. I have an aftermarkey warranty thing. It will cover it as long as they have to replace a covered part, but if they don't then I have to pay.

Just wanting to get as much info from people on here before I would take it in.

How much spirited driving have you been doing lately??

Is it a rattle (slower ticking sound) or a buzz (faster clicking sound)

Did you buy her new? Did you break in the engine correctly??

Bent valve?
Valve Adjustment? (too soon to need this but ...)

Something like this needs to be heard to be diagnosed with any certainty. I would bring it into a service shop.

Not too much spirited driving, maybe one or quick sprint to 50mph a day.

Ill have to go listen to it again.
I think it may actually get faster if I accellerate.

bought it used with about 11,000 miles, so not sure about break in.

Don't remember misshifting.

You'd remember if you did...so I'm going to say you didn't.

I'd be a bit concerned that the oil level dropped to half after 150 miles. I just did WTD'05 and lost almost no oil whatsoever.
