Hood Cutting Session on Sat, Oct 7th?
Since our crappy vented hoods seem to be the topic of the day, figured this is as good a time as any to post this
Several folks have expressed interest in doing this mod and I've said i'm more than happy to help out and provide the tools as soon as I can find some time. Looking over my schedule, I'm home and available on Sat. Oct. 7th if anyone wants to do a mod day for this. After that, I'm pretty booked up for the near future.
So ... assumming we can do, say, 5 hoods in an afternoon + me doing my other side, who's interested? Any more than 5 hoods would be pushing it so we'd need to limit this to the first five confirmed participants. Obviously, anyone else who wanted to hang out would be welcome as well.
The biggest challenge is going to be rounding up grill material. I'll leave that to everyone else (i have enough left for my other side
). We'll need some materials, but they're all easy to find and pretty inexpensive. We can figure that out once we know who's in. Any non-silver cars will want some touchup paint or something for the edges. We didn't need that for any of our cars so I can't offer any advice on the best way to finish that off.
So if there's interest on this date, post on this thread.

I would love too, but I dunno if I can afford going all the way to tampa at this time....but I will def check it out, where did you get the grill for your vents, and what is it called?
RXDI picked it up at a metal shop in town. He said it was the last they had on hand though. I'd check around your local metal shops. If not, you can order some from McMaster-Carr but it'll probably be more expensive unless a couple people go in together for a sheet.
Here's the thread from the person who first did this mod, showing the grill material from MMC: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=324009
