Well, I'm no artist but here's what I pulled off for my 3 1/2 year old's room last week (72 hours of painting!). I don't think the pictures quite do it justice but I think you'll get the jist. We're waiting on his "race car" bed that will be black with flames all over it, some window treatment, plus I'll probably end up putting some tool chests in the room for tables and the like.
Anyway thought I'd share and get some feedback. Now back to my day job of being a financial planner creating wealth instead of "race cars daddy race cars!" Anything for the kiddos though.
All blue tape on the actual buildings and then Sandy made some stencils for the windows for me.
I tried using an opaque projector my sister had but hated it to be honest so I free handed 100% of the big red car and smaller red/yellow car. The totally yellow car was my first and used some projector but again I ended up hating it and went solo from then on.
I have done a few murals and project rooms for people like this and they are always fun but very demanding/challenging. I respect the man hours involved and good work.
This is only my 3rd mural. The 1st was done before Chase was born at the old house; the 2nd for my 2-year old daughter. I definitely have total respect for real artists that can do this day in and day out and far better than I could even imagine. I'm just a really good doodler IMO and love to see the reaction from the kids.
Next? Hopefully later this year I'll develop an idea for my daughter's room plus we have a kid's playroom that I would like to make look more like an actual classroom. Eventually I would like to also jazz up the S2000's garage. Right now I don't want to see another paint brush for months though. Very happy with the results but also very happy it is done.
