How to change brake pads?
Just bought some Panther Plus pads after my track event. I'd like to learn how to change these. Is there anyone out there that might want to show me? There could be liquid incentives involved.
Will I need any special tools? I'm not sure I want to do this one without direction. Brakes tend to be important. Don't want to do
at a stop light!

I'm changing my pads out tomorrow morning, as well as doing some other track prep. You're welcome to swing by and see how to do it. If this works for you, send a PM to me with a contact phone number and I'll give you a call. Alternatively, we could connect up for a south Florida "tech day" on the weekend of the 24th or 25th.
Darn, tomorrow won't work. Taking my car in for the spark plug thing. Also having them check a buzz/rattle sound I get when I lift off the accelerator at higher rpm's. And... my 3-4 shift is getting crunchy at higher rpm's (even when I shift slowly). I'll probably end up leaving the car with them.
But a Tech Day would be a great idea. The SoCal guys do that all the time. Maybe when KiethD/Jaysom get those Mugen headers? Lucky dogs, I saw your names on the list. I'm also getting the Troutman brake lines in that GB, but that may be a while.

Have the dealer change the pads for you while they are doing the Plugs....
Putting new pads in is a really simple deal... remove the wheel, take off the 2 14mm bolts holding the caliper on. Pull the caliper off and hang or support it with a wire. (don't let it dangle from the brake line) You will probably have to screw in the piston. A large round cylinder with and X on it a quarter or half a turn in order to fit the new pads. Change out the shims from the old pad to the new and reassemble. Torque the lugs to 85 lb/ft.
Its pretty obvious if your at all mechanicaly inclined... Otherwise take it in to someone else.

Won't get the pads delivered in time. Thanks for the pointers; I also read a bunch of the how-to posts in the Under-the-Hood forum. It doesn't sound difficult, but I just don't want to screw anything up. Many of the posters recommended having someone walk you thru it the first time. I may just wait 'til I get the brake lines and bring it to a shop.
