Okay - I got a email from the VP at the Grand Prix. We're suppose to chat next week. As a point of reference we need to be familiar with the RV Club portion of the site....http://www.gpstpete.com/rv_club.cfm. We're looking at a grand and it only gets us 6 passes. We're talking more like 30 or something. I'll get some info from this guy and keep everyone in the loop. I'll also keep working the Andretti-Green side and maybe Scott with the NSXs will chime in too.

You guys keep working on RV info, BBQ rentals, dealership sponsors, etc. There's gotta be some connections in the Tampa area between guys that own restaurants, etc. Let's keep networking. We'll make it happen. "Never Quit" baby!!!!

Nice work...yea I figured we'd have to still buy paddock passes etc. I wonder how many people in all we could get Once you're in the paddock anyone could walk up there.

The VP from the Grand Prix called me first thing this morning. Sounded like a really nice guy. He said the time of our contact was perfect because he has meetings scheduled with the IRL next week and then Honda the week following. So in 2-3 weeks he should know what they expect as far as what Honda products will be showcased and the like.

He did offer this update from last year's event. The original plan was to have an all S2000 parade lap but then Honda wanted to showcase the new Ridgeline thus dropping our numbers down big time. It's Honda's show so we'll see what they have planned for this year. He was VERY appreciative of our involvement last year and I really think he'll do whatever possible to get us involved in some fashion again this year.

He did seem open though non-committal on us doing anything else like volunteering in the paddocks or whatever but I got the impression he was open to working with us especially given our showing last year and that we can come in with 30+ S2000s with ease. I mentioned the RV situation and again was open but he really needs to see what Honda and the IRL want done before we could do much talking.

I have his numbers and he has mine. I've logged it into my Outlook to buzz him in a few weeks if I haven't heard back sooner but I have no doubt they'll be in touch before my reminder pops up. I say that because he got my e-mail Saturday and called me just after 9:00 a.m. this morning.

He also mentioned something about Crown Honda as a sponsor I think? Please note that I said I think on this statement. I mentioned that we were in the process of pulling together some sponsors and he mentioned Crown Honda but I didn't clarify what he meant because my thought is to get things going with the Grand Prix itself which would include the IRL, Honda, etc. and then from there we can see what other expenses we can offset with dealerships, motor home rental place, BBQ suppliers, hot sauce, beer vendors, party supplies, any S2000 parts, you name it. I mean if we're going to shell out some bucks especially for an RV then the rental place should help us offset some costs with a big ol' banner on all sides of the thing showing off their product ya know?

Just some more 2 cents.

Good Work! Keep it up, maybe even if we can't do the lap we can have a large S2000 parking section inside the grand prix, next to our party RV..

That sounds great. Good contact glad they remember us.

I don't think they'll let you get away with spmepne elses ad banner other than s2ki unless it's an official event sponsor. That's usually how it works. So Crown sounds like a good bet. I wonder who else is on their sponsor list that makes S stuff.

I know lets tell Admin that for a couple cases of steaks and a libation donation we'll fly an S2kI flag.

Very Nice work.....

Thanks. We'll keep working on this but it looks like things will start moving pretty fast closer to the end of the month. You're probably exactly right as far as sponsors, etc. but if for some reason they (the GPrix, IRL, etc.) don't hook us up then we'll have to fend for ourselves and get others like the other dealerships, products, s2ki, the motor home rental place, etc. Heck maybe with some of the hospitality connections of some forum members (hotel, restaurants, etc.) maybe discounts on food supplies, beverages, etc. can be found? Just another thought.

Yep and realize that we aren't limited to an rv onsite. We can rent a tent....they have security and have the tent people put up on site. I have a 6k generator and I'll bet we could cooler most of it in and out. Then we don't need an rv.

Count us in. Colleen and I will be in my GPW S2k and my brother will bring his black s2k. Is anyone going to run a list of names of who is going and # of people attending for the gathering?

Looking forward to meeting up with all of you again!
