Default JAX Speed Trap Warning

OK...so during my travels yesterday I drove by two sneaky speed traps, and thought I'd give a heads up...

First one: Hodges Blvd. just South of Beach Blvd. JSO's finest setup camp in a driveway roughly 1/4 mile South of Beach Blvd. They were targeting Northbound traffic using a tripod mounted LASER gun. Damn near impossible to see as the pursuit cars were totally obscurred by the tree line.

This is a reoccuring trap, and they also will setup to target Southbound traffic sometimes using a fenced retention pond for cover (this is almost directly across from the Danforth apartment).

Second one: 9A at the new interchange with 95/295. This was an FHP operation...couldn't tell whether it was LIDAR or Radar, but I'm guessing Radar as it was handheld. They were targeting traffic coming from the West/OP and were sitting at the bottom of the last "hill" after you pass under the big flyover (again, heading FROM Orange Park).

This one was really ugly because 1) the speed limit drops from 65 to 55 AND its a construction zone.... and 2) it would've been nearly impossible to spot them until it was too late as they were at the bottom of a hill after a slight curve. I was coming the other direction so it was easy to see that way. I bet there were some pricey tickets handed out there.

Anyhow....be safe and keep your eyes open!

Before the Valentine, like 6 or 7 tickets.
After the Valentine, only one ticket. I saw the cops radar signal like a mile back. So I knew he was there, but I was in my prelude and behind a semi. It was going like 25 in a 45 on Blanding. All I did was go into the next lane to pass him and a cop jumps out and gives me a ticket. I was furious because I was going uner the speed limit. He said I just sped through a school zone. This school zone was as long as one intersection! Turns out the semi was so tall I never even saw the flashing school zone light. Plus, the school zone was only 20ft long.

Anyways, I see cops radars way before I get to them. love the v1
it has saved me from many, "Go straight to jail." speeding tickets!

Of course.
I haven't used a dectector in years. I used to have a sorry-azz Whistler that my dad gave me while I was in college. I used it for about 4 years or so, and got too relient on it. I let my guard down one day in Orlando and got nailed with an "Instant-On" setup....needless to say I was pissed (it was my first ticket ever) and the Whistler quickly learned what happens when concrete meets plastic at high speed!

Since then I have relied on my eyes and a bit of common sense. I have gotten two tickets since then (both in my RSX) and both times I was not using my eyes and definitely not common sense. A detector wouldn't have saved me in either case.

Anyhow, if I ever get another detector it will be a V1...I just can't bring myself to drop the $$$.

I was proud. 4 years of college and constant back and forth on 301...no tickets in waldo, lawtey, or starke. Went back for Homecoming wkend this past year in the grocery getter and got pulled over for out of order license plate light.

anyways, thanks for the heads up and go V1. I love mine
