Knock sensor trouble
So I was changing the starter the other day, and while getting the top bolt out I managed to snap off the fragile little knock sensor that comes on our cars. Money's a little tight right now so I can't afford to replace it, as it retails for any where between $110 and $140. So, my real question is can the car be driven without it for a few weeks? Only to and from work of course.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but a knock sensor only functions when the engine goes into a knock condition. So if I keep the car out of VTEC, don't use any horribly crappy gas, and thoroughly check my plugs and such to make sure everything is in proper order, the factory maps should be sufficient enough to keep the engine from knocking. As long as it's still grounded it shouldn't throw any codes either.
Or if anyone in the Daytona Beach area has a spare and wants to sell it for something less that retail let me know.
Thanks in advance for any help.

2-3 months if I remember correctly.
