It doesn't...

If you need the rear clam off for some reason, you have to do it the hard way... which means about ~3 hours or so worth of work to get it to the point where you can lift it off with a friend...

These cars are SOOOOOO much nicer with this modification. From a mechanics point of view, this mod should be mandatory for working on the car. Lotus really needs to do this as a factory-equipped modification. Not sure why they didn't in the first place.

You are one talented mechanic. Nicely done. I thought that was how an Elise opened as well. Until I read through the thread.

Thanks! But as much as i'd love to take credit for it, i can't... my lead mechanic Tom has been busting butt on this one to make it work nicely... I've only assisted here and there when he needed a 2nd set of hands or a 2nd opinion...

And yes, he IS a very talented mechanic... which is why he's at Panducky

Is this supposed to be one of those 3d magic eye things?

I see a yellow miata with rotas and a scooter with a john deer tire on the rear.

That miata is actually Composimos s2k. The scooter is an insane project that Composimo has been building. It is a turbo charged n2o injected scooter.

The tilting rear clamshell now lets us access the motor. This will help for further tuning etc.
