First off all. To get the internet, you will need to be wired, have a wireless connection at your house or have card from Verizon (or I am sure otheres to be able to use internet anywhere within their coverage area.

When I managed the IT at my last job, the comuters we had almost ZERO problems with were DELL. I have had extremely good luck with their customer service and it would be worth the cost to buy brand new from them. If you have a problem on your PC, they can actually take control of your computer via the internet and fix it without you having to do all the steps.

PM me if you need any further help and I will give you my phone number so that we could discuss what you might need.

Apple.

The Mac operating system runs incredibly smoothly. It's a visual masterpiece, and as far as multi-media goes, it's second to none.

Never slows like a PC or gets sick (virus). Extremely well made.

But for their purposes a MAC would be too much for them and plus it is pretty expensive when your not going to be doing much other then internet and office stuff.

i love me some MAC but it's overkill/over priced for average users.

There are Mac refurbs...over the years I have purchased 6 or 7 laptops from the refurb site. A refurb Macbook can be had for $800 and has enough processing power to keep them happy for years.

One more thing...every refurb I ever purchased looked brand new...not even a scratch. And you get a full warranty.
