Hi I just got my S and about to experience my first season of love bugs in FL. Just wondering how you guys keep your cars clean or at least from getting ur paint from getting messed up?

A good layer of wax, a micro towel, and spray bottle of water. Wipe off caucuses every night with damp towel.

recommend cleaning the buggers off within an hour of getting them on the car . The sun will bake them in faster . Keep a few micro fiber towels in the car or a chamois plus a bottle of water . I just avoid driving the S and drive the Accord .

I covered the front of my S with a bunch of window screen. Tied it on with a couple bunjees. Works great!!!! No lovebugs but my S looks funny in a tutu.

THICK wax ... maybe even apply and not remove

I don't know if it's bad for the paint ... but, my dad used to put a thin coat of vaseline on the front of his truck.

Definitely keep a rag and a bottled water handy

There is a spray paint something shield. You can spray it on and wash it off in a couple of days then reapply.

I have heard of using PAM (or any brand) cooking spray. it is a vegetable based product so I am pretty sure it wont hurt paint. I have found numerous references to using it. Actually those cooking sprays have oil and lecithin witch is a waxy subtance that is water soluble.

Also since love bugs are acidic, I would think that making a weak baking soda solution to spray on would be more effective than water. i will do some research on that.

People also seem to swear by the dryer sheet idea. I will try that. (plus it will make the front of my car smell like fresh pair of panties )
