Other than the 6.5% sales tax on stuff you buy, there is no "out of state tax" or income tax.

I was gonna say, I hope you you're going to FullSail.

Well respected school, Congrats.

Orlando is apartment central, although there are (were) a lot of condo conversions going on. In any case, Orlando traffic is a nightmare, so pick a place close to school.

Enjoy no income tax, sales tax depends on the county, but 6.5% sounds right.
Also, get a SunPass, lots of roads are Tollways.

Well I hope you have a garage or not parking your S2k in apartments around the East side of town because theft is bad around there. Since you are only 5 minutes from UCF you will find tons of apartments in your area. Since your school is on the corner of University and Semoran. I would search for apartments on those two roads. Maybe even consider a house because I know a lot of people rent out houses and it has a garage etc. Good luck!

Welcome to the Sunshine State (where it is currently pouring)!

Full Sail is on the main stretch into Florida's largest college, UCF (University of Central Florida) so you are in for some heavy traffic. However, there are loads of apartments near both colleges and because of the risk of theft, I do suggest atleast a gated community or if you can, a garage.

Here is a great link to search for a place. It even lists and searches by college as well.

ApartmentFinder

Also, I would suggest getting an E-Pass or a Sun Pass. Both are pre-paid toll systems and can work wherever the other is accepted in toll roads.

Best of luck!

Very helpful information..thanks for your input guys. I will be in touch with you all..

Im trying to look for a place that has a garage, but well see how that goes..

ALso, in the UCF area..is there a large theft rate in that particular area?

Last time i was in Orlando was March of this year...very friendly people i came across!
