Default Need some supercharger knowledge

Hey guys,

As you know I had 2ner Werks install my Vortech kit 2 weekends ago. I had an issue with the fuel pump so per Todd's recommendation I had it towed to Oster at 1st Class Auto in Orlando. Oster and Todd took care of me to make sure everything was running right before I got the car back today.

When Mike drove it home from 1st Class Auto, he said that it wouldn't let the car get past 6k RPMs and there were 2 incidents of really bad backfire. His buddy was driving behind him and could see the big puff from the exhaust.

When I got home I listened to the car in idle and it sounds like there's something a bit loose. It didn't sound like the normal supercharger whistle at idle. When I drove it around, my passenger watched the boost gauge and it wouldn't go past 4 psi (even bouncing it off the tach) and wouldn't go past 5 in 2nd..... on the way home from 2ner werks it was getting to 7 psi nicely (which is where it's supposed to be).

It also seems like there's a long whistle as if the blow off valve isn't closing. Could be my imagination but I'm trying to diagnose this by identifying all the abnormalities.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what this may be? Oster at 1st Class Auto drove it several miles and didn't seem to have any problems but I want to make sure that I don't drive the car if I'm just going to damage it.

Thanks a bunch to Todd for taking care of the issues. I know he's busy but he took the time to make sure nothing went wrong. I'm not posting this to say that Oster or Todd did anything wrong, I just understand that cars can do funny things at any moment and it probably wasn't doing this when they had the car.

Please let me know if anyone has any tips for me. Thanks a bunch!

Cheryl

check all the clamps and see if there isn't any leaks. Intercooler, intake, etc... I have yet had the chance of messing with a FI S2000, but with my Turbo 240 there were a few areas that where comon to have the clamps pop off.

also, do a ecu restart.

I disagree, the belt may be slipping thus low boost issues, but the 6K thing does not make sense unless the ECU is retarding the timing. I wish I was closer to look at it personally tonight.

Cheryl...

Once again, I had the same problem of my car feeling like it was "hitting a wall" at like 5k RPM's...

It may be the ESM or whatever the Vortech uses to fool the ECU... I was running PIG RICH while boosting... That would be a good way to shoot fire out the back of your car...

Hoep everything works out... I'm sure Todd and the gang will figure it out...

That has to be your third phone in two months. I hope you have phone insurance.

If the car gets worse and eventually doesn't want to run, check out you map sensor. My car blew out two with the S/C.

Funny you say this, Matt. I actually have a Comptech ESM in my kit thanks to JCarlton

Between Rick and Todd at 10:30 at night, I think they'll figure out what it is. The worst part is that sometimes it runs perfectly and I can't make it do anything bad. Then other times it just misbehaves.

Thanks Todd for the 24-hour service

Had the same issue before I was F/I. The old 'map sensor whack' fixed it for a while but it eventually came back 'til i replace it.
