1) 5000-7500 miles for the first oil change, Honda uses special break in oil during assembly

2)on a hot day, it's common for the shifter to get so hot you can't touch it, so heat around the handbrake isn't surprising- also, the transmission is directly under it.

3)there's a FAQ about removing the tape in the library I think, yes it's easy to do, be slow and careful, heating with a hairdryer seems to help.

4)no florida group badge, just Rick's "S" badges from www.ricks2k.com he also has wheel badges and some other REALLY nice stuff.

Hope that helps!

Enjoy the ride

Welcome onboard...

1. 3750 Miles.

2. The heat is coming from the transmission and its quite normal to have heat there.

3. Not sure why it is there, but its quite easy to remove. Just pull it off and clean the area.

4. No, but as Vemon said, Ricks has some alternate badges that may suit your tastes.

Bit of discrepency with the oil change answers. I believe most Hondas are 3750, but if I remember correctly the s2000 ower's manual says 7500, and 3500 thereafter. After 6 months, my car only had 4000, so I changed it then.

Remember to check your oil fairly often as many new S2000's burn oil. Mine took 1 1/2 quarts before the first change.

I was told 3750 for first oil change by my dealer.

I think the answer depends upon whether you consider the conditions you drive in to be severe or not. I think the manual defines severe conditions as temperatures above 90 degrees. I drive mainly at night and don't beat on it too bad. I'll probably change it somewhere between 5000 and 6000 miles. Manual states either 3750 or 7000 depending upon conditions.

I thought severe conditions only meant extended cold weather (< 32 degrees) driving. Can't remember where I got that from, but I definitely remember reading it somewhere.

Several people in other forums have said that it's best to wait on the first change as the factory oil additive helps the car break in completely over the first 5K miles or so. And after listening to some of the nutball dealers, I have little faith in their knowledge of this car. Four dealers told me emphatically there are NO special break-in procedures. They encourage test drivers to V-TEC brand new cars all the time.

Smoothieguy, if you are interested in Rick's badges for your colors, there are limited choices. He has a Sebring silver with black H, a black with silverstone H - both nice. I posted a thread as I would like to see a black with sebring H. He says as do others that you can't tell the difference. They do look good but I and a few(five) others so far would like to see if there is enough interest to get Rick to make this combo. I think he would need 15 serious owners to consider doing this but no guarantees. If this were something you might want see the thread in the S2ooo talk section. All the other advice on the other #'s is bang on, the guys here in Florida know their stuff.

Also, be careful to check your dealer after they have done an oil change. If they are using the automated oil dispersing machine, it continually left 1 to 1.75 quarts out of our S2K. Make sure they do a visual check on your fluids.
AS stated earlier, CHECK YOUR OIL FREQUENTLY - THEY BURN LOTS IN THE EARLY STAGES..........

Enjoy..
