Default OBD-II Cable/software

Having some issues with my car thats throwing different codes. I need to get setup with a good cable and software for the laptop so I can pull some info from ECU.

I've seen about a half dozen things out on the market for $40-$120, but want to see what others are using.

For the money whats the "ultimate" setup to do this?

I don't remember the brand but I know my dad bought a reader for 80 bucks that displayed what code was thrown and lets you reset a simple check engine light from not tightening the gas cap properly.......if this lets you not pay for one read at a shop its already paid for itself!

If it is just CEL codes you want, go to autozone and they will scan it for free.

I did that, but I want to get a PC cable for data logging and general trouble shooting. I don't really want to go back to the auto parts store and have like 5 people standing arround looking at my car and getting tons of BS comments from the peanut gallery.

Damn ricers

if you are in orlando, i have a OBDII scan tool and you can use it on your car.

if not, check www.toolsource.com and check out the OBDII scan tools.
