Default OEM Ti shift knob?

is the Ti shift knob any better than the metal/leather OEM knob? or is it just one of those "oh look at me things"?

i haven't seen one in person, nor do i like to touch other peoples knobs....

thoughts on the shift knob?

It looks like the AP1 stocker to me but the properties of the knob are as follows:

lighter than the spun alum. ap1 knob so your throws are not going to seem as weighted or solid if that makes sense

Ti cools/dissipates heat rapidly so you should not have the hand blistering shift knob heat problems associated with hot sunny days

I like after markets knobs like Razo, Spoon, Arc etc because they have ball shifters or more ergonomic shapes and the Ti they use is fired blue in most cases.

it's lighter than the stock knob? I thought it was slightly heavier, but I don't have my stock one anymore to compare off hand. Either way, it's very slight difference. TI knob is a little darker, but once again it's nothing you would notice unless they were side by side

Me personally, I prefer the look compared to the stock knob and I'm not a big fan of the rick's or ball like knobs. However, the ball type sit lower, the shift feels shorter and for the price they really can't be beat.

I wanted the 00-01 stock knob as it looked similar at a substantial savings, but I couldn't find one that wasn't banged up and with the TI knob it's never so hot that I can't put my hand on it.

Titanium is heavier than aluminum but much stronger although it is only half as dense as steel. The Honda titanium knob is actually weighted and thus a bit heavier than the stock knob giving more momentum to ease the shifting throws. It does get hot and cold easy so a knob sock isn't a bad idea if the top is left down in the summer. It does look slightly darker than the aluminum knob and it feels great in your hand, the metal is also much smoother than the aluminum knob. My brother caught me rubbing his "Ti" knob a few times.

Atomic weights of common metal used in car parts:

titanium: 47.9

aluminum: 26.9

iron/steel : 55.8

The 'eight ball' knob is counter sunk and therefore provides a little bit shorter throw, and lower overall rise. noticable, but you could probably get the same affect by placing your hand lower on the shift stick while shifting.
I think Rick's has them. I got mine off of someone that was selling it, but I think they retail for around $75.

I love my OEM Titanium knob. I took it with me when I traded in my 00 for my 05.
