Oil consumption update...
Hello fellow S2000 owners. Last year about this time
I was on this forum and mentioned losing 1 quart of oil
every 1000 miles when I had 15K on the car. Now,
the car has 26K on it and it is still consuming approximately
the same amount. I have seen 3 dealerships and 3 Honda
specialist and they all tell me the same thing. This car has
a race car type engine. It is normal to conume oil. I do not
run this car hard and rarely go over 3500 rpm.
Anyway, I thought I would let new owners and very low
mileage owners that the S2000 may consume long after
the break-in period.
Has anybody filed a class-action law suit against Honda????

I have just over 43,000 miles. Daily driver for the most part. She has sat for a few days rather routinely.
I, at times, wack the hell out of my biotch and consume about the same amount of oil as CoralDoc, and rarely lug the engine.
Do you have any oil on the ground? You sure it's being burnt out?
Maybe get a compression and bleed down check from a maniac other then Honda.
Second opinions are great, only if the second opinion is from someone else, read...not Honda.

First of all, I think you need to drive your car harder. Shifting at 3500 RPM is painful.
I think your consuming a little too much oil, if its consuming as much as you indicate. Make sure you always check it at the same time (when cold). If your not dripping oil out of the engine or its not smoking like crazy, than there isnt many other places for the oil to go. It has to come out of the car, on way or another. For the record I burn ZERO oil between changes, and my car gets used in the matter it should be.
As for a lawsuit, thats just nuts. There are no damages to you. You going to sue for a few cases of 10W-30? Cars burn oil. There is a max spec for consumption of 1qt per 1000 if I'm not mistaken. Maybe someone can check the Helm manual?

I just turned 23K last night and my consumption is pretty much the same as CoralDoc, but I think I'm in vtec a bit more. I check regularly but usually only add minimal amounts 2 or 3 times between changes. If you are burning that much oil you also may observe an inordinate buildup of carbon gunk around the tips of your exhaust.
I had a vehicle once that went through a quart every 3K miles, and it was anything but a performance engine (3L V-6 Ford). It was frustrating but very consistent. I put 150K on it before I traded it and never had any problem with the engine.
I agree with the others here, your consumption seems higher than most, but hardly enough to get the lawyers involved. Heck, even a 50% split of the damage awards would net the attorney what - a case of oil?
Good luck,
