the T-Bird was just a Lincoln LS with a body kit. It did have IRS but the geometry was all wrong for handling. And the 3.9 V8 is nothing to brag about. It is all aluminum and derived from the 4.0 Jag motor. I have had 3 T-Birds on my lot and they are garbage. BUT, they sell.

So what's the strongest cheapest decent IRS? Something out of a BMW?

geeez guys, if i wanted a drag car, i wouldn't have bought the S... lol!

Ian is the closest to viable, but i don't want a smallblock in my car... something simply not right about that. I'd rather keep it honda-powered

If I was wanted to do a S2000 swap I would do a 3.2 v6 S2000, twin turbo, cryoed AP2 tranny and Puddy rear.

Oh I've got a plan for the LS2 in the S2000 to make it "RIGHT"

2 years ago a guy brought a 240z to the Grassroots $2006 challenge. I heard it driving around the paddock and it sounded like it had the nastiest bike motor I'd ever heard. It sounded exactly like some crazy busa. Long story short I walked up to look at it and it had a Chevy 350 in it. But it had 180 headers. They made it sound like a mean sport bike........
When I drove it later in the day..... WOW! What power out of $2k. I believe it ran a 10 something down the drag strip. I do believe all it had was a big cam and heads.
So any way a small block in the S2000 with these headers!
Video.....
Video of 10 second $2,006 240z (save as)

Pictures....

I'm Absolutely Convinced that an S2k with a Chevy aluminum small block or a 3rd Gen Rx-7 with the same motor will WHIP the current time attack crop. Think Corvette C6R with less weight! Sub 2 min around sebring anyone?
