ebay good for oem parts and certain aftermarket but most of the listings found after a search on "S2000" yeilds absolute BS stuff

First rule of buying on eBay: If the deal sounds too good, it almost certainly is.
Every once in awhile, you can find a decent price on some good stuff. But if it's a brand you never heard of, it probably isn't all that good. And if it is a brand you've heard of, but the price is way too low, it's probably not genuine parts.
As long as you shop smart, there's no reason you won't do fine buying stuff on ebay. I've only had one bad experience on that site, and it was eventually resolved. Before you buy anything, check out the seller's reputation on the site. Make sure they don't have a lot of negative feedback. I generally won't buy from anyone with less than 95% positive feedback, and even then I read up on them to see what complaints they had against them.
