Exclamation Quality issues...

NOT

I have had the first mechanical failure with the S in (get this) 81000 miles. Is that incredible???

When I got back from the Dragon, my car started throwing CELs I did the usual tighten the gas cap and reset the ECU but it kept coming back. I pulled the code and it was a P1457 (evaporative canister problem) so it was off to the dealer for the first repair. Bottom line is they had to replace the check valve and the solenoid. When they retested the gas cap failed the test cycle so they replaced that. Total cost of diagnostics, labor and parts , $309.

As a comparrison, my 91 300zx TT, I spent over $10K in repairs over the 10 years i had it (not counting tires and maintainance)

Honda is truly an awesome machine

Bought mine at 69K. I don't know what was replaced before that time. I have not had to do a single repair to the car yet. It now has 109K on it. Only regular maintenance has been done like oil and fluid changes etc.
Love this thing.

I wonder if it might have something to with the pressure change at altitude. Also....the technician told me to never try to top off the tank. He says that overfilling of the tank can lead to a 1457 failure. I haven't confirmed this, just waht I was told.

I've been impressed with the quality on mine too. 7 years of daily driving, but just 31k miles in that time. I had a bad window regulator replaced in 2005, and just recently had to replace the clutch master cylinder. No complaints...
