I am a Painter, sculptor and Graphic artist (semi-retired ) I actually teach 3D visual effects at a local High School in Miami. I was the first to design a full 4 year 3D Animation program (for High School) in the United States, I'm trying to shape the future of the 3D Industry...
Go here and you can get to know me and see some of my work, The site is been up for a while but I'm so busy doing my Master's I haven't had time to update the 3D stuff, it's coming soon though. http://www.wilsart.com/ Working on cars is another passion that keeps me sane...

Sweet deal man I'm about 9 months away from my BS in Game Art and Design. I'm currently working in 3DS Max and the UT3 Engine, it's fun stuff that's for sure!

Awesome, Although 3D Max is used by about 60% of the industry, when you apply for a job they will ask you if you know Maya. The reason 3D max became the standard was more of an accident than design, The learning curve for Maya is about twice as much as it is for 3D Max so teacher back in the day decided to teach 3D max instead so it catched on, now in the last 5 years Maya (Alias) made a big push to knock 3D Max off the map so Autodesk been the smart company they are, if you can beat it , buy them out so they did..I suggest that in your spare time play around with Maya 2008 or newer, don't go back cause there are major changes to the interface. Good luck and show me some of your work

Although the programs you're using are very good, as the commercial goes "There's FEDEX and there's not exactly" there are several industry standard programs like Photoshop for image manipulation, Maya for 3D visual effects/animation, Dreamweaver for web-site design, Quark/Indesign for publishing and Auto Cad for architecture, Rhino for Engineering, Zbrush for 3D sculpture etc. I feel Maya can out perform all of them, it's an amazing program...

Cool

Wil ... I got you man

I was making a very bad joke. I am sure Poser and Bryce have gotten better over the years but I was being very facetious in saying they were good.

My last real experience in 3D modeling was Crystal Topaz...that should tell you something. A little dabbling on a SG Indigo in college and then if you set the wayback machine for long long ago I did some rough animations on an Amiga.

If we want to go seriously far back, I did some 4 bit single color bitmap animations on the ol Commodore 64 HAND CODED in BASIC LOL

ahhhh those were the days

LOL back to the topic

<~~ love Rhino and Photoshop, DreamWeaver, and Flash

But anyway...

Ya know, being the 3d artist that you are, i'm surprised that you haven't modelled your car accurately, and then build your own widebody flares in 3d... then output the file to one of the many 3d foam cutters to have them get you some foam bucks, so that you can make your own fiberglass versions of them... or make molds and really have some fun

They are both sweet My degree is 3DS Max based but I have both 3DS Max 2009 and 3DS Maya 2009 I think the most expensive part was building a computer to run them quickly lol
