On the Road North to Fall Crawl
Day 5_10022010 - Fall Crawl Drive
Hi All
What a fantastic day. We started out at 0930a with sun shining and 64 degrees. My son joined the for the Fall Crawl drive that was approximately 140 miles on the rallye. He said that he really enjoyed the run with all the twists, turns, and rolling roads on country roads. Many which he did not know even after loving in the area for the past four years. People along the route would wave or kids would howler as the group pasted by. We stopped at Quabbon Reservior for a picnic lunch, stretch the legs before finishing the last leg of the rallye. The foliage is starting to change some, but not what I was hoping for. Maybe with the cooler weather will make the leaves change faster. We finished around 2:30p, several other members went to a local brewery for a tour. My son and I returned to his home, for some rest before the dinner later. The dinner was very nice, the food was good, but the great company made it a great time.

We drive to top of Cadillac Mtn, which you can see to whole area and into southern Canada. There was a cruise ship in the bay area of Bar Harbor ME, and you could see the coast line, we continued on the park loop along the coast, ending with a photo of the sunset. I attached a few photo's of my son, his signifcant other, and myself. We left and headed for Freeport ME, you guess what is there? The answer will be in next email.

Day 8_10052010 - Stowe VT, thru southern NH and return MA
Well I can check two more things off of my life list of things to do. First we drove to the van Trapp Family Lodge outside of Stowe Vt, had coffee and danish while setting outside on a deck enjoying the Autumn morning air and seeing the Fall changing of leaves. It was the peek time of the Fall season for changing of leaves in northern VT and NH. Second from there we headed to the original Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory in VT. We did the factory tour, it was quite interesting. Found out that there are several other factories around US and the world; Holland for europe, and Israel because the ice cream has to be kosher for their market area. After departing Ben and Jerry's we headed back to the my son's home in Auburn MA, the further south be headed the weather was changing to rain and my mid-afternoon it was raining the rest of the way home. It is great to have some time to rest before heading back to FL on Thursday.

Day 11_10082010 - North end Start on the Blue Ridge Parkway
WOW what a wonderful day. Left the hotel in Woodstock VA at 0800a taking I-81 south picking up I-64 and in to Waynesboro VA and the Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) It is a slow drive but I made it approximately 130 mile in to Roanoke VA. Though the leaves have not changed that much, they are beautiful. They will be at peak in a week or two. Enjoyed the views and displays on the BRP. I will finish the BRP tomorrow and pick you I-77 and head stait on in to home. I feel that everyone should come up and drive the BRP just for the enjoyment. But if you can do it in the Spring or Fall would make it more memorable.
