so as i am normally against street racing, this one i couldnt resist. im getting on the highway on my way home from work with a semi in front of me and some jackhole riding my ass like i can go any faster. as we are coming off the on ramp he jumps across to the far lane but doesnt pass me...so i drop a gear and get over to go around the truck. as we pass the truck i can tell he's gonna pass me on the right, so i make him work for it a little bit. when he gets along side me i see he has a ford lightning...anyway we goof around a lil bit on the highway with a little bit of speed. then i realize he's getting off at my exit. and of course we get a light next to each other, hey says somethin out his window and i told him i couldnt hear him. he says, "thats what i mean you just have a loud exhaust", i reply with "you have a S/C V-8!". he says "lets go". so the light turns and i expect to get burned off the line, but dude must not have been ready for what the lil honda threw at him, cause he didnt catch up till i was topping out third gear. then he starts to pass me and im not willing to go any faster, so we both back off. then we catch another light, this time he's a little more ready, but was still unable to pull away from me. after that i let him ride, i was done....but sure enough i catch up to him at the gas station down the road. he just couldnt let it go that he beat me....so i had to tell him again...."YOU HAVE A S/C V-8.....I have a 2.0 4cyl. with an exhaust that never left your bumper, and i never left 4th gear". after that i think he got the picture and his pride deflated a little and he started askin me a bunch of questions about my car...i still dont think he believes it will break 160mhp, but the next time he pulls along side another S2k he might think twice.

Sounds cool, but i think you got lucky.
I am not a FORD person at all, but the ligthning is usuall a mid-to-low 12 sec 1/4 mile. Alot faster then the S, I'm guessing he was spining like mad first and second.

You should have told him to go hit some corners and let's see what happens. That tank would plow through the corners.

i think i totally got lucky....but was stoked that he couldnt drive... i mentioned the corners during our little chat at the gas pump...he said his truck overpowers turns. and he likes drag racing better. and i actually respect the lightning as a very fast truck, its the douch-bag mod that im not a big fan of.

 

nice.. those things are fast! I actually wanted one of those before (still do)

 

Yea, the Lightning must have had traction issues and a bad driver.... they're a lot faster.
