Default S2K TRACK EVENT?!?

I got this idea while hanging out with the NSX guys at our last Orlando Acura/Honda Exotic Car Festival...

Why dont we have a S2K Expo like the ITR or NSX guys?!?
Has anyone even attempted to start something like this?
Do we not have enough interest?
How many would be interested in a day at sebring, moroso, homestead?

If there is any interest I may begin to look into this a little deaper, maybe get with Chin Motorsports and see what we can do locally. I would love for something like to grow as big as the ITR or NSX expos'. it would be THE event of the year!

Thats a really good price, but I am guessing that a "real" track such as sebring, moroso, homestead, daytona, etc. would cost a bit more?

Also I dont want to limit this to a certain amount of car, I know there wont be many to begin with or HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE! 20 cars at the first event would be awesome!

Ill keep looking into this, and once I get more ground on it I can post it up in all 3 FL boards and maybe some surrounding state boards. Ill try to get ahold of Chin soon and see what he says...

anybody know what organization the NSX and ITR expo are through? that would be a good start...

I am one of the organizers of the ITR Expo, it's a private group of us that organizes it. Same with NSX Expo, Ken Sax, WeiShin (Chin Motorsports), etc have been involved in various years past with that one (NSXpo). I've been involved in running the ITR Expo since 2003 and have been involved in the We Todd Did racing events as well.

To put this simply, if you want to run a S2K only day, you may want to do it outside of Florida. Sebring is the safest track for novices here (that's large at any rate) and it's pretty pricey. Also, I wouldn't suggest running your own anyways unless you get a group of people who are willing to put forth a huge amount of effort for nothing but the benefit of the community in return.

Chin may allow you to have an S2K specific run group, back in the day he would but they've grown a little big now so maybe not anymore. PBOC is a no go (s2000's aren't allowed without rollover protection), PCA.. good luck.. maybe SAFE motorsports if they are still running but they are generally open format like Chin.

I invite any S2K with a rollbar to the 2008 ITR Expo, it's at VIR again so the rollbar rule is theirs, no way around it. One of the reasons I'm going to sell mine..

Thanks for the great advice! I would not mind any day to put forth the effort to make something as large as the ITR or NSXpo with nothing in return besides the community itself. And the track day obviosuly

I just mentioned a FL track since its close to home for now. Ill be PM'ing you soon for more information if you dont mind. Thanks again!

We could definitely do 20 cars. I mean we had 14 s2k's at our last meet at Tijuana Flats. 4 of them were yellow...lol

yeah weve had great meets here in tampa too but a meet is one thing, and getting 20 of those guys to actually pay a decent amount of money and drive out of town is the hard part..I would definately like to get something like this started though!

What about the corner works? People working the pits? Will they volunteer? Or does everyone take turns? You need to consider all of these things.

Can someone in the know tell me why the S isnt considered to have rollover protection? I've read somewhere that one large sanctioned body (may have been scca but cant remember) allows S2k's to run without roll bars. I'm just curious. I have also read that in some organizations the z3's roll bars are ok stock but ours aren't. I'm confused by this.

Twansta- I'm right behind you on this one man. I know I can't be much help but If you need any help setting this or any other event up, let me know.

This would be very cool and tough to put together. Sebring would be a nice day but then there are those damn $$$$. I do not mind hacken out a couple or so hundred to run the S but when we get near K's, well Also, when it comes to a sanctioned roll bar - maybe when I am done with the S for street duty because sanctioned roll bars in mho are UGLY. I have not been to GIR yet and this might be a place to start? What ever you decide I am in! As long as I have some notice time.
