Elroy I really doubt we should be anywhere near the thousand mark. Im guessing a few hundred or so each like you said. Maybe we can do this locally first, see how big it gets and then like the ITR and NSXpo we can switch tracks annually for the greater population to join in.

Ill talk to Chin and Dave-Ror and a few others some more and get down to the fine details of running something like this. Ill try my best to make this happen! As long as you guys will support it!

OnehotS2k: Twanksta hit it right on the head, getting XX people to show upf or something free is a lot different than getting people to pay $200-$360 for a track event. And a lot of people who go to meets won't put their S on track.

ElGringo: You pay the track (any large track) for cornerworkers and you can either pay for the guys at pitout (grid/control) or bring your own. I've never done anything with GIR so not sure their requirements. You also have to pay the track for security people (the guy sitting at the front gate), ambulance (possibly two if on a large track) and a wrecker. And you need to buy insurance for the event (kandkinsurance.com).

Kalibo: One of the reasons the S isn't considered to have rollover protection is because of how the car can react if it rolls over on sand (for those clubs that simply rule out ALL roadsters without proper protection) and/or because the rollhoops do not pass the standard broomstick rule (drivers head is above the height of a straight line drawn from the hoop to the windshields top frame). On the clubs like PBOC that allow Z3's (really any Porsche/BMW convertible) but do not allow S2000's.. well they are just a bunch of f'ing idiots IMO. They pissed me off recently with that so I'm annoyed with them

Joe: Depending on location, number of track days, other planned activities and # of people you get to sign up, an event like this will costs the driver between $200 and $360 in entry fees. For the ITR Expo last year we did VIR full (a large and expensive course) for $350 or $360 a driver, two track days with a banquet with about 100 drivers.

Twanksta: Your best bet if you want your own event is to go national right away, and pick a location that's fairly central or more east coast. The WC guys just like to hang out at parking lots in my experience Your real best bet would be to try to get your own run group with an established group at a smaller track. We can probably get that setup with Turn 1 motorsports and use CMP for the track (South Carolina). It's a pretty safe course, it's cheap, and they allow S2000s. Just don't lift at the kink

HAHA! thanks again for the GREAT advice, Ill be coming to you again for more soon. I work all weekend so no time really to jump into anything, but would like to keep talking to you about this...ill send you a pm later and see if we can communicate some other way more efficiently. Thanks again!

BTW, 360 for TWO track days!! WOW! I wish I had an ITR! haha. Another thing as far as experience...for people who have NO experience what is needed to get on the track?
Is it like NASA with an instructor and pass-by-waving system only?
And for someone such as myself, I have one track day under my belt and consider myself a decent driver, but on a new track I wouldnt mind an instructor at all to show me around. Do we get instructors?
With these private track days, is it a free run like safe puts on or is it setup like NASA?

I doubt VERY seriously that you could ever get sebring down to a couple of hundred. When I first did it with track Time it was $500 for the weekend plus meals and hotel. Second time was over $600.

I am just not sure you could get enough s2000s to pring the cost down, especially at Sebring. I am sure that they pay the corner workers and the ambulance/fire crews. It is a big place to manage safely

for that kinda money why not just run a chin event. then you dont have to worry about it being organized, just pay your money and show up.

CMP looks like a blast! I really would like to run there sometime if a rollbar isn't required for the s2k.

Because then its anybodys track, the whole intent of this thread was to have a s2k specific day such as the ITR or NSXpo. Not that it couldnt possibly be ran through Chin though. I am going to send him an email within the next couple days to see what he thinks or can do for us.
