Shift Boot Console Wear
I wanted to revive this thread because it helped me out a lot. Thanks to hygiene boy for the tip.

I looked at a lot of 2000/2001 cars at the meet the other day in Clearwater. Most of they guys had this problem but didn't know what to do about it. I did it on Saturday and it really helped. Just some nail polish remover (or suitable substitute) and a fingernail should bring the coating right off.
One word to the wise: DO NOT ATTEMPT ON 2002 AND UP!!! The material the trim piece was made out of was changed to make it more robust. If you attempt this mod, you'll end up doing more harm than good (ask Hygiene boy!)
