Slaying the Dragon
Friday starts to pile up as the day lingers on. If you can arrage to take Thursday off to drive up, get as far north as possible, bunk down, get up early Friday morning and try to ba at the Dragon no later than 10-11 AM. You'll have plenty of road time to get familiar. The afternoon quickly builds with traffic. Then on Sat, 200+ S2000's and about another 750 of whoever shows up that day hammers the road. WAY over crowded. You're better off doing the other roads on that day and then back to Fontana for the Group Dinner. Sunday is also stupid crowded in the morning but tapers off in the afternoon. Taking Monday off work is also a good idea so that you do the Dragon Sunday Afternoon, then just cruise home on Monday.

If this is your first time, you are better off with a crowd on the road.
There's no room to go all out. If you don't know your limits or have not been on the road, you better go with someone in front of you to keep your pace and someone you trust. Or follow a Harley rider. They go slow. It's best to take a couple round trips through in control and get a feel for the road and traffic. Then gradually pick up the pace.
You will see plenty of biker heads leaned over across the double yellow into your lane. Be prepared. As well as possilbe 18 wheelers trying to drive though and cross all the lines.
Have fun and don't go over the cliffs or up the embankments.

Leon - my g/f and I should be there Fri morn. I'll take you on a few runs, give you some pointers on how to learn, have fun, and be safe.
I've instructed in motorcycle racing schools, run through Deal's Gap hundreds of times, have pace notes for the Dragon and my own co-driver/rally navigator. However, I have yet to run through there at anything close to 9/10 - go slow, be safe, have fun.
