A lot of you may fee lthat S02's are fine in the rain... just be careful.. The biggest problem I encountered was the lack of predictability in the rain. I went around on my S02's in the rain with about 7K miles on the tires. I was gonig too fast, and should have known better... I just replaced my S02 are the way around. I had about 8K miles on rear set #2, and had decent tread left. A week before I got them replaced, I was driving in the rain on a nice section of new pavement and I could feel the car getting very twitchy...

The S03's are on now, and with all the rain we're having, I'm loving them! What you give up in the dry is small sacrifice for the incredible improvement in wet traction.

My Kumhos are a lot better than the S-02s were in the rain.
Like someone else stated, it's not that the S-02s were bad ALL the time, but at times they got twitchy without warning when nothing seemed to have changed.
If the tread is low, be VERY careful!
I went to Ecsta 712s and I'm on my 2nd set of rears, still on the first fronts. I REALLY like them, especially for -$100 a tire.
If you go to anything other than an OEM S-02 on the rear, definitely go to 245/45s. The stock S-02s are actually about the same width as any other tire in a 245/45.

If anyone needs front OEM S-02s, let me know I have an almost new pair in my garage (~4K miles), make me an offer.

Sorry for the delay, I have been visiting Deb in NC. The buddy of mine was doing about 45 when he slid. He stated he was not "on power". This guy used to race motocross and can handle his car pretty well. I think Josh hit the mark. One tire lost traction, the other hit pavement, and wa - la - spin....
When Deb spun she had about 50% tread left on her S02's.
This was a public safety announcement - as any twisted sheet metal is bad
