Scott pmed me with two topics and one of them could be a really cool thing:
A). What do you think about a post that would highlight what needs to be done to the cars before putting the stickers on. Some folks have real good success with whatever "snake-oil-wax" that has proven reliable as a preventative residue leftover.
B). As a heads up, there is a fairly large Celtic Festival held in Zephyrhills each year. It is on the National Radar for these types of things. About 2000+ people invade in Tartan & Kilts. This year, it is on Sat & Sun March 6th & 7th. They now have a Parade that kicks off the event on Friday Night. I was approached after my initial inquiry about using our cars that have the SPGP Decals to run in the Parade taking whatever local Event and City VIP's through the town. (Almost like a preliminary dry run for St Pete). They love the idea of promoting the St Pete Race and their event in unison. They are going to be getting back to let me with how many cars thay think they will need. As soon as I know, I'll contact you via cell phone to get a post up quickly so as get a idea who can make this Parade. Here is a link to really cool event. Please check it out. I had kind of thought this event was going to be stupid and hookie, but I went about three years ago and was blown away. I look forward to this almost as much as I do the Wake The Dragon trip.
regarding the first one...I want to hear from you all that get the decals put on. I never wash or clean the cars so I dont know whats the best medicine for dealing with residue after application or after the decals come off
the second point seems like a really cool thing to do. I need to know how many of you would be willing to do something like that and if you can make those dates. Scott will get with me on how many of us they need....Since this is not associated with the SPGP weekend I will open it up and say that: anyone who can make the friday night schedule and location can participate...decaler or parader....does not matter.
reply here with: "IN FOR KILTS" to be put on the roll call for this event....first come first served
First off it helps to have a car that is never been painted on. All of ya know that I leave the decals on for a LONG time. I have never had any issues with paint peeling. All I do is a week or so before the application day is to wax my car with Maguires cleaner wax.
I actually took the decals off just 2 weeks ago, this time when the car had been parked(Homestead stickers from October) and it was a cold day. Some of the decals broke due to the temperature but they came off easily and in large peices. I use the cleaner wax to remove the adhesive after the sticker is removed.
IN FOR KILTS but need to know what time it would be(meeting time for us)
Like John, I have only applied the decals to a factory painted car.
I like to wash and wax sometime in the week coming up to Decal Day. I use Meguiars Gold Class wax, but any type of Carnauba wax will do. Even though synthetic waxes give an unbelievable shine, I have heard that some will tend to darken the tint of the finish. I know that there is nothing wrong with this, I have always avoided them.
On Decal Day, I will wash the car again, right before application.
When it comes time for removal, I leave the car in the sun for awhile so that the surface is warm. Then they peel right off.
Now that the decals are off, here comes the fun that your "S" deserves:
1. Wash and dry car.
2. Apply Meguiars Clay Bar Kit to remove all oxidation and residue. Wipe dry with micofiber towel.
3. Apply Meguiars Paint Cleaner remove remaining residue. Remove with microfiber towel.
4. Apply Meguire's Polish to prep surface for wax. Remove with micofiber towel.
5. Apply Meguire's Gold Class Wax. Remove and buff with microfiber towel.
The above 5 steps take about 4 hours but should be done at least once a year whether you apply decals or not. Six months later, I apply another coat of wax.
This is what I do, but I wash the "S" twice a week anyways.......whether it needs it or not.
BTW I am gonna need an extra long Kilt (if you know what I mean) the last time I wore one driving the S it rode up pretty far and we all know the proper way to wear one is Comando!!
(Good luck getting that image outa yer mind anytime soon)

C'mon Rob.....you promised that you would delete posts that would waste space and avoid the clutter of wannabe post per day'ers!! ....... Let's exercise that CO admin stuff !!
Besides, the only people who brag about "Johnson-itis" are those who wish they could qualify. But as for me, lets just say that I have two master suites in my house, a sound proof drum room that has a mattress in it and I turn Kilts into Mini-Skirts once the blue pill kicks in.....................
this thread can become whatever it wants to be. I am only policing the OFFICIAL thread because I want/need the information to be concice for you guys....LOL
