Default Thinking about lowering the S

I'm thinking about lowering the S about an inch, nothing crazy! I lowerd the blue 02 on RS*R TI 2000 springs and was happy with the ride and look. These springs are not around anymore and finding used has not come up as of late.

I have the specs on the factory spring rates as well as the specs on a few lowering springs I have thought about using.

Stock Spring rate Front, back (lb/in)

This is what I have, 2000 AP1 00-01 219F 291R

05-07 256F 207R

MY04: 261/280

CR springs: 392/347

Eibach pro kit is rated at 262F 342R,
Lowers Front/Rear: -1/-1 inch

TEIN Dress up Master 296/363 LB/In
Lowers Front/Rear: -1/-1 inch

Swift Spec R: 420/392 (linear, not progressive)
Lowers Front/Rear: -1.25/-1.25 inch

The Eibach pro kit or TEIN looks to be a better fit for AP1 since the spring rates are setup for rear biase

I don't track but also don't want to go backwards on performance, I want something to improve performance a little as well as having a better look. I will be using the stock shocks with the new springs, What do you guys think??

Eibach is what I ran on my S2000 I was very happy with the ride and the drop was perfect. When I first installed the springs it didn't sit as low but with all springs it takes some time for them to settle.

Thanks Ron, the Eibach spring is a bit more light on the spring rate than the TEIN but the TEIN is half the price. I am thinking hard about the Swift springs since its more CR like (CR guys like them) and should work well with the early AP1 sway bar sizes since they are close to CR size as well. The only concern I have it the damping on the AP1 shocks, not sure if they would bottom out or cause bouncing with the stiff spring rates.

I ended up going with the TEIN springs for a few reasons, the 1" drop and they are a stiffer spring than the Eibach. I did not go with the Swift Spec R because the drop was lower than I wanted and a few guys have had issue with bouncing at highway speed. The bouncing is from the factory shocks not working well with how stiff the springs are.

Puddy,

I was hesitant to lower mine and finally did it a few years ago, I went with the Eibach Pro Kit and I couldn't be happier. It isnt slammed but low enough that it looks and feels great. If anything it actually helped the handling just a tad.

Barry, yours sits beautifully.
Ben, I had Tein S-tech springs for my first drop. Ride was awesome, handling was spot on too. I was auto-Xing a lot back then, first on a full stock setup then with the Teins. The difference was substantial to say the least. That's my $.02

I bought April a 2008 VW Beetle bug car so the S is now my toy
I have a nice set of 17" BBS RGRs for it and thought the lower stance would make the wheels pop better. Thanks for the feedback guys and on the TEIN springs Jeff
