Default TIRE TIME!

Its that time again... looking at putting some new rubber on the S, currently running some bald s02's in the front and Falken Azeni's in the rear.

How do people feel about the Potenza RE-01R's over the S02/03s? The price on tirerack is $119, seems like a good buy. Is anyone running this setup and can offer some feedback? Also, what size did you go on the rear?

Additionally if someone else can suggest a different setup i'd appreciate their input. Not looking to spend 200 a tire here...

I'm in the same boat. Got four tired S0-2's that need replacement and I've been wondering what other options I have.

Hankook RS2's are awesome and fairly cheap. I got mine at discounttiredirect.com.

Is the car a daily driver? If you don't put too many miles on it, you could consider the Kumho Ecsta MX. I just got a set of 4 tires in OEM 16" sizes for $400 shipped from the Tire Rack.

The Potenza RE01R's are supposedly even better tires, but will wear faster, and cost a bit more (about $500 shipped for 4 tires). I haven't tried these for myself yet, but plenty of people have told me they are better than the Ecsta MX

I have also run Hankook R-S2's in the past. They are a pretty good street tire, and are quite affordable. However, don't expect a very long life out of a set.

In between my experience with the Hankooks and my current Kumhos, I had some Avon Tech M500's. I only ran these from February-May '07, but did get some good use out of them. They handled great, seemed to wear very slowly, have a stiff sidewall, and performed wonderfully in torrential rain. And perhaps the two best reasons to try these out is that they offer a 245 width on the 16's, and they are VERY affordable.

Try the RS2's , I'm on my second set of rears and they perform perty good. The tread wear is only 200 so you'll get about a year out of them if you like to drive hard. Best thing you could go with 205 / 245 combo or with 225 / 245 also. I got them from Edge racing here in Miami. They have a web site also.

A year on the R-S2's? That isn't very hard of driving. I got about 6 months out of my rears. And I drive quite civil on the street.
