First it was France(s), now the Russians are after us. They're still pissed about Iraq.

I'm scared to go home - I'm in Fort Walton Beach.

I left 2 days ago to come to Covington, LA... which didn't get anything from the hurricane and it is due north of New Orleans, took 8 hours to get here.

All i know is there isn't any power, and structural damage is extreme. I couldn't board up my windows because they ran out of wood, so I just taped the windows on my house, and sealed the doors from any water.

I've heard something like most structures' windows are blown out (so i imagine I won't have windows), Trees are completely uprooted and fell on houses and cars, flooding in low area, which happens to kinda be near my house because it used to be swamp land. They replaced the drainage ditch in front of my house a few years ago but it doesn't work 100%, I still get the flooding when it rains real good.

I guess I might try to head home this afternoon, or tonight. My only concern was getting my S out of town. Kinda selfish ya think? I don't know what I would have done if she got hurt

My town is almost a total loss, the gulf of mexico is now on highway 98...

See, We have barrier islands that split the gulf from "the sound" right? Well appearently there is no more barrier islands, not to mention the way I planned to come home is washed out (I-10 over pensacola bay) From what I'm understanding from my mom who stayed behind, there is 10-15 feet of water covering south of Highway 98. Like red lobster is under 13 feet of water (and I really like red lobster)

I'm leaving about 3 or 4 am to go home i'll see ya'll in 2 - 3 weeks when they get the power back on

Sorry to hear about the damage to your town. I really like that area of Florida.

It's worse than I thought. We have no cable- so i'm at work trying to use the dialup and it's slow as piss.

Navarre beach- gone
Okaloosa Island- gone
Holiday Isle, Destin, Florida- Gone
Dune Allen beach- gone
Seaside- gone
Point Washington- gone
Santa rosa beach- gone
Pensacola Beach, gone
Pensacola Naval Air Station- eh maybe a building is still there (3 tornadoes)
Daulphin Island, AL - gone
Duke Field AFB - gone (4 tornadoes)
all downtown Pensacola-gone
anything south of highway 98- gone
Downtown Mobile, AL - Gone

and when I say gone- it's more like totally/severely/extensively destroyed

I-10 Bridge from Milton/Pensacola (extremely heavily traveled bridge) -Collasped
Highway 20, washed out
Highway 98 Okaloosa Island - Destin ( pretty much the only way into destin without spending an hour driving) completely washed away
Parts of highway 90 washed out

My house is missing around 80 shingles, and I have exposed wood, letting the rain come inside ruining my couch and carpet.

We have 7 different companies working on the power, we're only at 45% as of this morning, of those who have power. Driving back from LA was a nightmare, we had to go completely around Mobile and Pensacola because President Bush declared those federal disaster areas (????) and I guess is giving them a lot of money to rebuild. You still can't get into Escambia county- and curfews are in effect for Santa rosa county and escambia county, it's choas around here. We have like 140 foot boats in the middle of highway 98, buildings completely washed out from the back, docks standing straight out of the water as if a waterspout planted them like that, furniture everywhere along the coast.

Coming back from LA there were trees over roads right? and a small path cut out for only one car to pass. It took 8 hours to get back from LA, and we had to go I65 North to Atmore, AL, Hwy 21 to Hwy 31, down to Hwy 4, over to Hwy 87 North- take that south to Hwy 90, over to 87 south, which took over 2 hours to travel from traffic. Coming into Navarre, it was devestating, then traveling back east into Ft. Walton it was like a scene out of a movie with the damage. I'll get pictures up as soon as we get cable internet. We couldn't get too many shots because it you were caught out sight-seeing you got in trouble. You were suppose to stay home, period. Only go out and wait 4 hours to get gas if you had to, need ice? Stand in line 3 hours to get it.

Luvthosetats: my parents are members of Grand Lagoon Yacht club--you may recognize the name from the community where they lost al ot of peole....we are worried a lot of those lost were our members who decided to ride out the storm
Luvthosetats: Radio is only reporting 7 deaths..that's bullshit
Evilkittie121: Vience, LA.... completely gone- and they are NOT rebuilding.
Luvthosetats: our friend lives across teh street from Grand Lagoon and watched them fill up TWO Ice trucks full of dead bodies they pulled from the water..it's just sick
OnlineHost: ENERFUD has left the room.
Luvthosetats: he counted 30
Evilkittie121: where is grand lagoon?
Luvthosetats: and that is NOT including the 7 that are being reported on teh news
OnlineHost: Laceejo69 has entered the room.
Luvthosetats: Grand Lagoon is down by Perdido Key (also very badly hit) off of Gulf Beach Hwy---on the backgate to NAS Pensacola
Evilkittie121: I hear NAS isn't there anymore
Luvthosetats: ummm
Luvthosetats: depends on what you refer to as 'there'
