Went to work today, just got back a little bit ago. On the drive home, saw that downtown Hampton has flooded streets and a lot of power outages. I go back to work at 7am to fix whatever traffic signal equipment Irene decides to break - possibly a 12-16 work day (and maybe the same for the rest of the week). At least it will be a lot of overtime pay...

In fredericksburg we have a little bit of flooding from ponds, but nothing severe. Some roads have 1-2 inches of standing water on them.

Winds are really picking up!

Fox Hill is flooded by Old Fox Hill as well as Harris Creek (be careful if you go to pops house). Other than that, nothing eventful here except for when the power went out for about 10 seconds earlier today. Dominion Power says that more than 25,000 homes in Hampton are without power. Crossing my fingers that I don't lose it. If I do, I might head up to NNews in the Oyster Point/Jefferson area and stay with my kids' great-grandma.

We received 30 power generators yesterday for the major intersections/signals without power. Gonna start hooking them up after our 7am meeting tomorrow. In case anyone is thinking about "borrowing" the chained-down generators, when Isabelle came through in '03, 3 generators were missing and Hampton Police found one of them being used at someone's house. Since the generators were on loan from the federal government, the person was charged with theft of federal property.
