Default Vent cutouts

When I bought my 2003, the right faux vent had been cut out as to increase air flow. Is there any reaso why I can't cut out the other vent? I would like to put scrreen on both sides to make it look the same. Just in my way of thinking (Which is probably wrong) that cutiing out the other side might further reduce the heat soak under the hood during our florida summer.

Any thoughts?

The right vent was cut out for a AEM CAI. Do you still have the cold air intake in the car? Do not cut out the left side (driver side) this will do nothing for heat soak but, will soak your air pump

I cut both out. Didn't think it looked good with one cut out.

you car won't be drivabale ever again!

J/K, if you have a CAI the vent hole can be fairly usefull. I've cut one on my AP2. If you look in the Racing and competition forum you will find instructions on how to vent your brakes using these holes. I'm not sure how much air you will get into you engine compartment by venting the second hole without routing the air.

that is why I came to you masters for advice JK

Seriously, I think the car had CAI on it befor it was sold. I am going to run a K&N FIPK.

Puddydad.....will something get wet that shouldn't if I cut out the other side?

Thanks in advance
The cars air pump is behind the drivers side vent. Like Willie Gee said you will have to rout the air or things will just get wet

Since I have a V2 CAI if I cut that out wouldn't I suck up rain when it's raining hard?

it is possible, but not likely.

Most of the hydro-loc with CAI's happen when the car has been sitting in the rain for a long time and the filter becomes totally soaked, or if the driver foolishly tries to drive the car through a deep puddle. Very rarely, if at all, does hydro-loc occur when driving the car in the rain.

I've got my hole cut out and own the V2. To date no problems with my daily driver. I have semi-covered parking at work and at home, and that helps.

But don't drive your car hard in the rain. Ever. Especially if you have a CAI.
