Default 3rd gear grind

Third gear is grinding when I shift from 2nd to 3rd. It only happens when I'm accelerating pretty hard. I've changed out the transmission fluid twice now; once w Mobile1 synthetic and once with Honda MTF. I'm thinking it's a syncro or something but really not sure. Any ideas on what it might be or suggestions for a reputable shop?

If the fluid changes did not lessen the problem, it most likely will be the synchro. It's really hard to tell without listening. Does it slip too, or just grind?

No slipping at all. It just grinds when going from 2nd into 3rd.

Based on your desciption, the 3rd gear synchro is bad. About $1500-$2K to fix. If you want to read more, Go to "Under the Hood" and key in "2nd to 3rd gear grind" in the search engine.
