Found this on ebay. Looks clean. Maybe I could actually hear my stero with top down above 45 mph?

Jimmy has these or something very similar. You need to get his opinion on them

I found an old forum and s-pods were going for $240? Are they still?

This guy is letting them go for $60 for the pair if you make the offer. Looks like he ripped the idea off of s-pod and is making a nice little profit.

Looks easy enough to make but by the time you get materials you'll be encroaching on $60 homade.

I would have to think S-pods sound way better. We are talking about a speaker less than 7 inches from your head with nothing in the way. Panel speakers just fire into the back of your seat.

Either option would be better than stock though...

Yeah, I saw that the other day... I think you need to get it and let us know how it works out.

I actually bought a set of these and I really like them. The guy is great to deal with and install was a breeze (well, I had to have some professional help getting the wiring back there, but the mounts were not difficult at all). As to how they look, well, when I told my girlfriend that I had fixed the rear speaker problem and pointed to right behind the seat, she asked me what she should be looking at. Unless you are right up on it it looks stock.

I should say, though, that $100 is a bit steep for what you get. I lack the skills and equipment to make something like this myself, so it was worth it to me ($100 was cheaper than renting tools, measuring throwing things, cutting myself, etc.). If you are good at working with wood, though, this would be easy to do on your own.

I bought this exact set last year and feel the same as PTDrake. Works really well and looks decent. Probably only took 10 bucks in parts and less than half hour of labor to make, but they do work very well. I'm running Polk Momo 6.5 components (pretty hefty driver) and they fit great. I think I was able to "make an offer" on ebay and picked them up for $80. You may be able to message him for a lower price. In the end, I'm satisfied.
