Default Buying a new HU

I'm about to buy a new HU for my s2k. Do you think Alpine CDA-9886 or a Pioneer DEH-P7900BT is a good HU? I want to still retain the capability of playing cds, but need other features like IPOD compatability, mp3s.. etc. I have researched a little and this HU seems like a good price and HU for an upgrade. Also, to retain factory dash controls, I would have to purchase Modifry IR DCI, correct? Well, if there is any of you guys are expert at this and would like to help me install this, it would be greatly appreciated! As soon as I purchase it, i'll give you guys a head up and we can meet up and do the installation. Thanks in advance guys!

Out of those two units... IMO, You should go with the Alpine 9886 You will need Modifry's IR DCI control if you want to have your dash conrols continue to work.

Have you given any considerations an an AMP and/or rear speakers?

if you need help with the install, let the group know. we did my HU, amp, component speakers in one day and it was well done.

wow... that's pretty awesome! But yeah... 8ball, I haven't gave any consideration for an amp or any speakers yet.... What do you recommend? As of right now, I want my HU installed first because I am kind of on a budget. Maybe a little down the road I'll upgrade new speakers w/ an amp. Besides those 2 HU's listed, you recommended the Alpine 9886? What's wrong with the Pioneer?

I AHVE POLK 6501 COMPONENTS, JL AMP AND CUSTOM AMP RACK. THE POLK HAVE AMAZING RANGES. THE HIGHS ARE HIGH, BUT YOU CAN STILL FEEL THE LOWS WITHOUT A SUB. I HAVE AN ECLIPSE HU AND I AM ABLE TO ADJUST EVERY LITTLE THING WITH THE AUDIO. YOU JUST HAVE TO LOOK FOR DEALS.

I stongly recommend upgrading your door speakers when upgading your HU. The OEM speakers are low end and IMO, you'll get the best sound out of your new HU with speaker replacements.
