Engine Problems
going to lunch on friday and the car completely stalls out. i wasnt horsing around, just driving like everyone else on the road. the car wont turn over, no other accessories to drain the battery, no check engine light, nothin will work. the last people to touch it was honda.
the car dealership that i bought the car from talked to honda. honda said that it sounds like i some how over-reved the engine and the pistons were slamming into the heads and valves.....i have no idea. i didnt know maybe hitting 7,000 RPM's on a 9,000 RPM car was over-reving. any ideas......

Honda always says that because it voids any warranty. Don't let them jerk you around. Did you drop something in the head when you had the valve cover off? If not, you got some sort of warranty from the dealer, right? Sounds like they are fixing it.
i did absolutely nothing when the valve cover was off. jimmy and i covered it when i took it off and it sat under a car cover when the valve cover was off. when i put it back on nothing was around it. i got a 4 year extended warranty through the dealer. i am still waiting for a call from the dealer this afternoon. i just dont know how it could have happened. i wish i could just get a break with cars. my last car, which was my first, was a HUGE money pit. now i have major engine problems with a newer car. i thought i was done with this sort of thing.
That really sucks, Ryan.
It could have been over-revved previous to you taking ownership. I've read that it's not uncommon to have cracked retainers without showing symptoms until they actually split and send the valves into the cylinder.
What happens when you turn the key to on? I'm just trying to figure out what you mean by "nothin will work". Does that include all electrical components? If so, maybe it's just a dead battery.
I hope it's someshing minor and easy to fix... or covered under warranty.

When you say... nothing will work.. be more specific. Need more info. Does it appear as if you are getting a crank from your battery? Is it still the original. Test the battery voltage if possible
Does the car make any sounds when you try to crank it? How many miles have you put on it since you powder-coated the valve cover?

all the accessories will work (radio, lights) it sounds like it tries to turn over but it wont. the dealership has it now....so i dont know if they got it to turn over. less than a 1000 miles after the valve cover was done. i got it done the week of 8/7-812 and put it on 8/12 then the car show and now this. so it hasnt been that long. typical daily driving. i have hit vtech multiple times but havent red lined or mis shifted. we shall see and i will keep everyone posted. this really sucks b.c i have more parts to get powder coated and an exhaust just chilling in my room ready to be put on.

plaza motors off page and 270. the infiniti side has it since the shop manager has multiple honda contacts. no one is returning my call, which is a bit frustrating. just need/want to know what is going on with my car.
Just because your radio works does NOT eliminate a battery issue. The battery may just not have enough cranking power to turn the car over. My guess it's the battery, but hard to tell without looking at it.
Good Luck!
