I agree. Make sure you get the upgraded retainers even if you have to pay the difference. You will sleep better at night.

they ran the computer diagnostic and there was no record of the amount of rpm's that the piston hit the head and valves. fidelity is now sending an independent inspector out tomorrow to asses the damage with the repair team at the dealership.

This is better news. Let us know what they say.

Ryan Good Luck-
I guess I'll have to think about replacing the retainers in the engine when we work on my car!

Got word on the car. They need to take the top engine apart and look at the heads and the internals of the engine. Of my understanding, if the piston is notched, then the piston collided with the valve and therefore over-rev caused the engine to stop working. That means driver error. I will know by Monday or Tuesday on what the verdict is. Still don

i would think that they should be able to scope the cyl. walls by just pulling the plugs and rotating the crank if it will turn. Even without rotation they would be able to see the valves and at least 2 full walls without pulling the head. IWT that Plaza would have a fiber scope. If it was me, I'd pull the pan to look at the rods and fluid to see if there are chunks or particles.

Good luck and get ready to empty that wallet.

..............is there anything on the internet that states that an over-rev can happen...snow ball into a problem to where this happens. they are claiming that by looking at the piston they can tell that it was over-reved which would cause the engine to not work immediately.

suggestions............worst case scenario i get to rebuild the engine slightly. if that would be the case new pistons and maybe cams wound be in store. any suggestions on good pistons and cams to replace the stock ap1's? if it needs to get done...might as well have some work done to it.
