Default Got my gears installed

Well, finally got my 4.57 gears installed today. My impression so far is "Wow is that whine loud!". The gear whine in my car is horrible. The gears were installed by Ricks2k and the differential was installed by a Honda dealership in Cape. I don't know what the deal is, but I cannot live with this noise. I know my experience is probably unique though. Don't know what I'm gonna do from here. I'm talking to Ricks2k right now to try and fix the problem.

I don't know man, but its making me sick. The fact that I can't drive my car without that rediculous noise. It is not the normal gear whine, trust me. It's obnoxious. Hopefully the guys at Ricks2k can help me out. They sold it to me afterall. I've only heard good things about the Honda shop I took it to, so I'm at a loss right now.

Does it whine on acceleration or coast or all the time? Sounds like the gearset is not installed right?

It whines very little to not at all on decelleration. It whines quite a bit on acceleration and a lot while cruising. The whine is very loud! And as soon as I buy this, the new 4.56's come out that of course are better.

The gearset is not installed correctly, either the pinion depth is out of spec or the ring gear backlash is not set correctly. could be both. What did Rick's say?
P.S. I would not drive the car you will ruin the gearset.

Is this something that Ricks2k installed incorrectly? I recieved the whole gear set already installed in the diff, and had my local Honda dealer install the diff. It's kinda late, so I haven't gotten any more responses from Ricks this evening. I thought those guys were very experienced at this application. Oh well, sh!t happens. As long as my baby runs as it should, I am cool.

Thanks. Ricks better stand by their product. They should, I have heard nothing but good about these guys, and they have been really helpful to me so far. Keep the support and help coming guys I need it. I need some tissues, my only other mode of transportation is an 88 bronco with a 351 that gets a whopping 10 mpg.

Jeff at Ricks wants me to send the diff back so he can look at it. That'll be another 250 bucks. So......in the end it'll be about 750 for a diff install. Yay! Maybe I'll have the diff back by install day and it'll only be 500. Yay again. I am definitely not happy, but it seems like Jeff's trying to help and stand behind the product. I'll keep you guys posted.
