Wow, sorry to hear your about your experience. Modding has its ups and downs. Sometimes more downs than ups.

Yeah, I was ready for something like this. I just don't want to be burned on this deal. The replies to my emails keep getting shorter. First they wanted me to put 500 miles on the gears and do a fluid change.....now they want the gears back. I haven't been unruly yet, but that could change. So far I've got a $1500 part that does not work properly. I'm also the one that bought the last 4.57 set, when the new 4.56's are just getting ready to be shipped. The 4.56's are supposed to have no whine. Damn.......looks like I'm whining more than my gears are.

I know this is probably really stupid, but is there even fluid in it?

They said they put 90w in it when they installed the diff. They also charged me for 90w, so they better have put it in. I let my dad listen to it. He has done gear jobs before, specifically with richmond gears and he said it didn't sound that bad. He liked Jeff's first opinion which was run it for a few miles and do a diff fluid change with good oil. He also said my S would smoke his S now. He could tell a big difference in accelleration.

You would think that Ricks would pay for the return shipping. So are you going to ship it back or ride it out for a few miles?

Ok, I had my Stepdad who has experience with building Richmond gears listen to it over the weekend. He didn't think the whine was that bad and said to drive a few miles (500-1000) and do a diff fluid change. This was also Jeff's ( from Ricks2k) first opinion. The whine does not sound as loud as it did the first day either. So far Jeff at Rick's has been a great help with great customer service. I'm sure he got a little tired of MY whining though. I can get a nice chirp when going from 2nd to 3rd now too. Very nice indeed.

Oh shite! That fecker moves now! Like I said, if I get a good 1-2 shift it breaks loose (not chirps), and a good 2-3 shift chirps now. 2nd feels more like 1st and just putting around town is easier/better. I've only done 2 hard upshift sequences, I'm still getting a feel for the gears. And of course with the weather being a little cooler lately, the S has been running much better anyways.

I cant decide which gears I want. I'm affraid 457's will be too much with the s/c. That and they are really expensive compared to 440's. I will have to check yours out and make up my mind.
